We have been informed that work starts this month on the long-awaited passenger lifts and extra footbridge at Ipswich station.

This will be a victory after several years' campaigning by ESTA, Railfuture and other bodies.

Network Rail have told us they expect the work to be completed by March 31st 2011. However, the information which we have received indicates that it could be the summer of next year before the project is completed.

Our Secretary is seeking further clarification of this matter.

We also want to know how National Express East Anglia propose to cope with the increased numbers of passengers who will be changing trains at Ipswich from December.
