Ipswich is just over 60 minutes from London by four trains every hour, and within easy reach of the port of Harwich, Cambridge, Peterborough and other centres.

Frequent buses give easy access to the town centre, with its many modern and traditional shop shops; beautiful Christchurch Park with its Elizabethan Mansion; and the remarkable Ancient House.

Within easy walking distance of the station are Ipswich Town Football Club Ground, a multiplex cinema and nightclubs. A short riverside walk brings you to the Wet Dock, now gradually being developed as a marina.

Ipswich Transport Museum, run entirely by volunteers, has a fascinating collection in the old trolleybus depot at Cobham Road, in the South East of the town. Tel 01473 715666 for details.

East Suffolk Line trains give a panoramic view of the town as they describe a semi circle through the west of Ipswich, gaining height before passing through a deep cutting to reach Westerfield.
