The train ride from Beccles gives views of Waveney marsh and woodlandnot possible from the road. Carlton Marshes, on the edge of Oulton Broad, is an interesting nature reserve with a rich range of flowers and wildlife. Oulton Broad South station is a few minutes walk from the lakeside Nicholas Everitt Park which is home to a Beccles and District Museum of local history, cafes, speedboat racing, fetes and summer Sunday band concerts. The Waveney public house offers good food,whilst colourful sunsets can be seen from beer garden at The Commodore. Look out for the view of the Broads and Lake Lothing as you pass over the swing bridge towards Lowestoft.
