East Suffolk By Train and Bus: Saxmundham

Saxmundham station is in the centre of this compact market town (market day Wednesday), very much the nerve centre of the East Suffolk Line with its recently restored signal box responsible for radio control of all trains. A branch line once ran to Aldeburgh but this is now only used by freight trains to Sizewell Nuclear Power Station.

Travel Cannon Ltd, at the station, is open six days a week for all your travel needs in this country and abroad, and local tourist information (Tel: 01728-604600).

The Bell Hotel in the High Street provides good food and accommodation. A museum of local histroy is open in the tourist season.
