Across the river from Melton station is a thickly wooded hillside, beyond which is the National Trust property of Sutton Hoo - an Anglo-Saxon burial site with Visitor Centre, Restaurant and peaceful walks through heath and woodland.

It is 20 minutes walk from Melton Station - or you can catch the Bawdsey bus six times a day (not Bank Holidays or Sundays) as it passes Woodbridge or Melton stations. Sutton Hoo is open most days April - October and on most winter weekends (Tel 01394-389700).
